New York Bed and Breakfast Inns
Everyone should go to New York at least once in their lives.  The city itself is so vibrant and full of life that you could spend years dedicated to exploring it and still not cover it all.  In addition to the beauty, mystery, and excitement of New York City, there is the countryside that surrounds it.  Rural New York is something that not many people seem to think to see, but it is a worthy place to visit nonetheless.

New York has a little bit of history for almost anyone in the US.  Somewhere in almost every resident’s family history is a relative who arrived in New York, perhaps through Ellis Island, and from there made a life for themselves.  Ellis Island is a huge draw for tourists from all over the country for just this reason.  To walk the same footsteps as an ancestor is an amazing thing, and to see where millions of Americans once stepped foot in the country for the first time is exciting, even if you don’t have ties.

Of course, this immigration history might have little to no interest to you. If that is the case, there is still plenty of other history that can pull you in and excite you in New York.  Claimed by the French, then settled by the Dutch, the area around the Hudson River was an essential path for goods going in or out of the country in the earliest years.  Eventually, England (led by the Duke of York) set out to conquer this area, taking “New Amsterdam” from the Dutch and renaming it New York.

Many historical battle sites and other buildings have been preserved for those who have an interest in the history and tradition of New York state.  Of course, there is no way that you are going to be able to see everything in just a couple of days.  The best way to stay in New York (or anywhere else for that matter) in comfort is to rent yourself a room in a local bed and breakfast, and let the hosts pamper you during your stay.

A New York bed and breakfast accommodation is much different from the hotels that spring up all over the place.  Expect to get only the best service from your hosts, and to be treated as if you are a family guest.  Your room (or rooms) will have all the amenities that you need, and you will be able to enjoy your stay while relaxing among all the comforts of home.  Enjoy a bountiful breakfast every day, and some hosts will even invite you for dinner with the family every once in a while.

You will hardly want to leave the comforts of your home to enjoy the sights and excitement of New York!  Once you get out of the house, however, you will be immersed in activity.  Do you like hunting or fishing?  Both are available during the proper seasons, and you can enjoy days of roughing it in the woods or a return to a comfortable bed & breakfast at the end of the day.

In addition to the forests, which are gorgeous at any time of year, but are especially vibrant in fall, there are rivers and streams, and access to Hudson Bay, one of the biggest ports in the United States.  From the Bay, make your way into New York City and expect to find just about anything that you can imagine.

The shopping in the City is first class by design, and you could probably spend days (and max out several credit cards) exploring the stores and everything that there is to sell.  Wander through the ethnic neighborhoods, from China Town to Little Italy, and marvel at how like stepping into a whole new country it is.
Keep exploring, and you are likely to run across at least one of New York’s many museums and galleries.  You will find anything from historic museums to modern art galleries to check out, and maybe even more than one.  Don’t be afraid to explore or to look for more of something if you really love it.  You will likely find it in the City.

In fact, the buildings of New York City are almost like a giant museum all to themselves.  The historic architecture is studied and admired world over, and it is hard to find someone who doesn’t recognize the New York skyline from postcards at least!  Enjoy, admire, and then sink into a nice, warm bed at the end of the day.  You will be so glad that you chose a bed and breakfast accommodation to come home to at the end of the day instead of dealing with the inconvenience of a hotel.

And if you are in New York, you can hardly escape without going to see at least one show, whether on or off of Broadway.   The entertainment is worth the effort, and you will be delighted with the entire experience.  And at the end of the day, as you will soon find out, there is nothing more comforting than walking up to a house instead of a hotel to relax, rest, and get some sleep to energize you for the next day’s adventures.

Even if you choose to explore the state of New York without ever setting foot in New York City, you will love the adventures and beauty that this colonial state has to offer you.  The history of New York is as rich as the culture, and the activities available to you are more numerous than you could imagine.

Go on, right now, and get your bed and breakfast accommodations set up for your impending visit to New York.  You might want to make the stay open-ended – once you pay a visit to New York, you’re never going to want to go back home again!  The woods, the snowy winters, the warm summers, and the amazing history of the state will draw you back again and again.
